HUNDREDS DRIVE AROUND TRACK TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHILDREN
“Jaylen’s Car Wash” benefitting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, The NASCAR Foundation is huge success
San Bernardino County, Calif. (May 10, 2010) – Hundreds of Southern Californians showed an outpouring of generosity by bringing their dirty cars to “Jaylen’s Car Wash” at Auto Club Speedway today. Money raised from the charity car wash benefits Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) and The NASCAR Foundation.
For just a $10 donation, those visiting Auto Club Speedway pulled onto pit road and had their cars washed in a simulated “pit stop” by volunteers from Auto Club Speedway, followed by a lap around the track to dry the car – the very same track that NASCAR stars will be battling side-by-side when the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff race – the Pepsi 400 returns to Southern California on Sunday, October 10.
Each donation also came with a 2010 NASCAR Day collectible lapel pin.
“It’s incredible that so many people came to get their car washed and were able to take spin around the track to support Loma Linda and The NASCAR Foundation,” said Gillian Zucker, Auto Club Speedway president. “It’s great to be part of such a worthy cause that has such a huge impact on our local community.”
“Jaylen’s Car Wash” is named after four-year-old Jaylen, a LLUCH heart patient that has a dream of becoming a NASCAR driver when he grows up. Auto Club Speedway wanted to help by hosting “Jaylen’s Car Wash” to help raise funds for LLUCH and The NASCAR Foundation, which supports a wide range of charitable initiatives that reflect the core values of the entire NASCAR Family.
Anyone that missed “Jaylen’s Car Wash” at Auto Club Speedway will have a second opportunity to get their car washed all in the name of charity. For a $10 donation, on NASCAR Day, Friday, May 21 Bass Pro Shops at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga will hold its own “Jaylen’s Car Wash” from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. in front of the store located on Victoria Gardens Lane. Every car washed also comes with a 2010 NASCAR Day collectible pin.
NASCAR Day collectable lapel pins are also available for a $5 donation at the Auto Club Speedway ticket office, online at www.autoclubspeedway.com/nascarday or any Stater Bros. Supermarkets until Sunday, May 23.
Every car washed and donation for the NASCAR Day pins makes a huge difference for those in need. Since 2008, Auto Club Speedway has raised over $131,000 for charity during its NASCAR Day efforts.
